And only $3 grand.

No manual but with the right 4wd system and the v8 this would be really tempting.
Not that I can afford the paint job right now much less the rest

a block of granite to begin with.

Looks like a TOY truck from the 80's.
I promise they were a real truck with an interesting if not unfulfilling history. Very small light duty trucks that used to be quite popular in some areas. No search term I’ve used produced a single remnant of their existence and I’m giving up for the night.

Where does one find the frame for this thing of wonder?

Smyth seems to have some good ute kits; nice to see them adding more models to their catalog. I dunno if I could bring myself to cut up a perfectly good vehicle, but I wouldn’t hesitate to do this to one that’s damaged from having a tree fall on the back. Great way to save an otherwise totaled vehicle.

Some sort of window or fake-window on the B-pillar, and this could be quite good.
Certainly looks better than the compact Ford truck on the main page yesterday.
A bed bar, lights, and matching paint... this could look quite compelling.
Some further modifications beyond that, and I am thinking Micro-Raptor.

They use the WJ Grand Cherokee on this one, rather than most of their conversions that are usually unibody cars.
The WJ is unibody, but they evidently beef it up as part of the bed installation, and they chose WJ Grand Cherokee, because it is the latest version with solid axles.
Couple that with competent 4WD and suspension articulation, a robust I6 or V8 engine...
This is as much a compact truck, if not moreso than the likes of a previous ranger, or a Colorado/Canyon/S10. And probably more compact than a new Gladiator, and probably much more affordable to build than an AEV Brute.
Not to mention, depending on the WJ donor, the front two seats could retain being a quite nice, well optioned interior.

That is 3 Grand for the kit parts; not the donor, or the conversion...
it isn’t 3 grand for a jeep going in to a shop , and a shoddy mess coming out.
Not to mention all the other things that can be done to modify a WJ solid-axle Jeep, or if you add exoskeletal bracing, rock-rails and such, in addition to the ute conversion kit.
And who knows what would be capable with a bed storage system, like Decked or something like it.

Right. All of that.

Yes to the b-pillar glass, but I would want pop out windows

chrysler minivans had some powered pop-outs... maybe some custom cut glass on that hardware... Perhaps along with a powered sliding Colorado pickup rear window... sounds like that is the donor glass that the kit uses.
